On August 27, 2019, the horrifying news came out when three dead bodies were discovered in Virginia. Matthew caught into custody in a triple homicide case after an intense manhunt.

The victims were Emily Bernard Bivens, Cullen Bivens, and Joan Bernard. In fact, Emily (24-years-old) was his sibling and Matthew’s nephew “Cullen” was just 1-year-old at the time of his death.

The triple murder news was first confirmed by the Tampa Bay Rays. They released an official statement and revealed that Blake Bivens‘ wife, child, and mother-in-law were brutally killed.

 

They found Joan’s dead body in the driveway. Later, the police went inside the home and found the deceased body of a woman and a child. In addition, the family dog was also shot dead by the murderer.

The officials put the entire area on lockdown as Matthew Bernard was still armed with a rifle. A search warrant for manhunt and the first-degree murder was also issued. The neighbors saw him fleeing naked in the nearby wooded area before the police arrived.

Furthermore, the local media also captured some footage when the authorities were chasing him down. Fortunately, Matthew finally got arrested and took into custody. The main reason for the murders is yet to be published.

 

Biography: Blake Bivens’ brother-in-law, Matthew Bernard was born on the 21st of August 2000. Therefore, his age is 19 years old, as of 2019.Bernard’s mother, Joan, was 62-years-old at the time of her murder. His father “Nelson Bernard” was also present at the time when the tragic incident took place but he came out unharmed.Matthew’s sister, Emily, and Bivens were high school sweethearts.They attended George Washington High School together.In 2019, Thomas completed his school education and graduated from Dan River High School.Later, he enrolled in the Danville Community College and was attending classes there for a higher qualification.During manhunt, Matthew also attacked a church groundskeeper before the police stopped him with the help of stun gun.The police first only reveal that the killer was a close relative of the deceased victims.He is currently charged with first-degree murder but the formal charges will come out after the autopsy reports.

His uncle, Bryant Bernard, told the local media that Thomas injured himself when he was in the police vehicle.In fact, he banged his head against the vehicle’s window and then authorities took him to the hospital.Currently, he is in a strict psychiatric watch in the hospital.Thomas Bernard earlier told his family that he was suffering from nightmares one week before the horrible incident took place.
